Guy's Behavior

Did a guy from my past like me or was he playing games with me or was he never interested?

I've always been curious since this happened, so i'll ask your opinions. A while ago there was a guy who i liked who i wasn't sure if he liked me back. I thought he might be flirting since he touched my shoulders, tried to get my attention, always made the same inside jokes with me (some were a little sexual), and he sang the lyrics to lovey songs when he was around me. One time we were talking and he very obviously stared at my boobs but that doesn't really prove anything. What was weird was that he also was texting other girls a lot and would some days not talk to me at all and seem generally uninterested in talking to me. At one point i asked him out but then i found out he was dating someone. Later he resumed these behaviors a little before they broke up and then after for a while. I heard at some point that he had a history of flirting with people with no attention of dating them and manipulating them which made me wonder if that had happened to me. Its been a while and I'm over him and have been for a while, but i could never tell if he was ever actually into me or if he was just like that.
