Why is my boyfriend constantly joking about marriage?

My boyfriend has been making jokes about us being married or getting married one day a lot. He isn't really a type of guy that would consider marriage -at least that's my impression-. So I cannot tell if he is actually kidding or if he is trying to give me a message. He puts it out like he's making fun but it has become a constant think for him to mention marriage and joke about it. What do you guys think, am I exaggerating?
