This guy is really confusing me?

Okay so a year ago I met this really cute guy at a caravan park. Like tall, dark, handsome and strong kinda cute. He spent all day trying to get my snap and eventually joined in our spotlight game and got my snap.

We talked for a bit and he asked me to come to his games a few times but nothing serious because he lives an hour away. We’ve talked on and off and made a deal that we should date when I get my drivers (8 months away).

Anyway two nights ago we talked for like hours and he asked me to come hang out with him when him and his friend are at that caravan park again (I live near it) because apparently last time was heaps of fun. I said sure and we kept talking and he asked me to show him all my new clothes I got and wanted to see them on me.

Anyway yesterday he wasn’t as talkative. We talked a bit while my brother and I were fooling around in the gym but not as much as the day before. His snapscore was going up so he was doing his streaks too later that night (probably not talking to people, just streaks from what I know of him).

I’ve had the biggest crush on him for the last year but he doesn’t know that. I have a real fear that if he knows I like him, he won’t like me anymore.

So do you think he likes me? Because he barely spoke to me last night and it was kinda confusing.

Also, do you think I should ask him when he’ll be down at the caravan park or is that too much?

Distance makes the heart grow fonder young lady. When you are attracted to someone it may feel like you want to be with them 24/7 but it is good to have some distance - don't suffocate them. Lay back for a few days - give him another call (or text or snapchat or whatever) in a few days. When you are getting to know someone it is good to keep a certain distance that way you have time to think about each other.

At the same time , don't be too bothered if he does not reach out - there are other boys out there and you are still a young lady.

Whn you are trying to ifer something about the way someone elsee feels, it is a mistake to look at isolated bits of behavior and try to find meaning in them. There are many reasons why he might spend a great deal of time on the phone with you one day but not the next, and trying to guess which explanation applies is just that. . . a guess.

Instead, look at his pattern of behavior and it is quite clear that he is interested in you!

Who really knows. There could be something sometimes as well. Sometimes stuff happens you could ask him about it and maybe in the near future confess your feelings so that he don't start talking to another person or another person talks to him and if you have a chance you should take it

Well he’s asked me to hang out with him soon when he’s down my way. And I reckon when his football season starts back up, he might ask me to come to a few games near me. And then soon I’ll be 17, have my license and be able to hang out with him way more and possibly date him

Okay so last night he was snapping me and he snaps me this video and goes ‘wait for this harmony’ , plays around a bit and then the chorus comes in this song. And he can’t rap or sing but he was rapping the chorus anyway and it wasn’t like terrible, but it wasn’t great. It was all dorky but not in a weird way, in a cute way. Because my God, he is the hottest and coolest guy I know. Like THE hottest. 6’4 athlete, absolute looker haha.

But yeah he hasn’t sent me anything like that before. We played truth or dare and I dared him to sing and he refused before. But this was super cute and the way he said my name was just ughhh

You can tell him you enjoyed spending time with him and ask him out (suggest getting together again and a time). As far as barely speaking to you, don't assume that's personal as it may have nothing at all to do with you (?). Maybe something happened in his life that had him distracted? It may not be personal.

I would hope that I live in a world where men order than myself would tell my daughter to stay in school and ignore boys. To study and focus on being right in the eyes of God, instead of gossiping with her about boys of 15 years of age.

I’m a 16yr old girl, I’m gonna gossip about boys. It’s normal. I still do my school work, I still behave and I put in effort for my future. But I’m a teenage girl and I’m gonna like and talk about boys. I’m not as bad as a lot girls, I know girls that have a new guy on the hook every week. I ignore most boys for the most part.

This is a guy I’ve been talking to for a year and I’ve had a bit of a crush on for a while. We’ve said that we should hang out more when I get my license (17 and you can drive on your own here) and our parents went to school together. I don’t talk to many boys at all and if I do, they’re friends.

It’s completely normal and healthy for teenagers to date. If you do it right, it sets up healthy dating habits as an adult and teaches you boundaries. I’ve learnt a lot from the guys I have liked, and the very few guys I have dated. If I started dating as an adult, I think I would struggle with the social skills and setting boundaries of a relationship.

Dating at this age has taught me a lot of self respect, how to set boundaries, peoples intentions and how to look out for myself. This is something I struggled in when I was younger but something I’m now well versed in.

And just to clarify, I was asking a question not gossiping. I was asking for advice which can help teach me healthy dating habits as I become an adult.

As smart as I'm sure you are, there's a lot about social norms and decency that you probably know, but haven't lived long enough to truly value their importance. I'm sure your father, if he saw you talking to random 45 year old men in the street about a boy, wouldn't be too happy.
Most of these 45+ year old men, if they saw your father walking towards, would turn and walk the other way. Men instinctually know what behaviour is inappropriate. It confuses me why grown men are acting like there's no problem with it online.

Shelf what I have said for now, you're still growing. Your young brain doesn't stop growing until 25. So there's a version of you , you haven't met yet. When you're 27-30, you'll think completely differently.

I don’t have a dad.

But I know plenty of men in their 30s and 40s who my mum would be happy for them to give me advice. My mum relies on her male friends to help play a fatherly role in my life, and they do a great job of it.

Can my 25yr old brother in laws not give me advice either? Because they give me plenty of advice too and are like big brothers to me.

Is my mums boyfriend not allowed to give me advice either because he’s not my father and my deadbeat dad hasn’t approved?

I understand that there are many predatory people out there, especially on the internet and some are of an older age. But I’m good at looking out for myself and recognising unsafe behaviours, and I block them, don’t talk to them and hold myself at a distance.

As long as the advice from a adult is age-appropriate and sound (like olderanswiser said), there’s nothing wrong with it.
