I think saying that you love the guy is a bit much, do you even know him that well?

Usually what we really mean is that we have a crush on the idea of the person we have created in our minds, its all just a fantasy, those people won't ever be what we dreamed they would be.

It seems best to me to either find out if they are interested quickly and get it out of the way one way or the other (as it seems you have done, at least eventually (not sure how long you felt this way)) or to never say anything and just enjoy the fantasy for what it is.

In any case it would seem you have your answer so I guess process your feelings and move on, you are young and beautiful and there are millions of guys out there who would love to be with you.
