Why would a guy you were seeing mute your socials and restrict you from seeing theirs but not just remove you completely?

I'm a little confused about this behaviour.

I was seeing this guy for a few months. Things were going well and I thought we were headed for a relationship. Asked him if he wants to be with me, he said no, he's not in the right frame of mind for a relationship but cares about me and still wants me in his life. He said he didn't allow himself to get attached. We shared so many fun, deep and sweet moments together, so I have a hard time believing that. I decided to walk away from him as I can't be friends with someone I have feelings for. Though I've missed him so much since that day (its been 2 months)

Everything was fine, we'd spoken here and there about returning our things to each other and I noticed after a few weeks that he'd restricted me on Facebook. I'd also noticed that he stopped viewing my stories and pretty sure he's muted me.

Why wouldn't he just remove me altogether if he doesn't want to see anything or have anything to do with me? Do you think maybe he regrets his decision and still checks up on my socials to see if I've posted?

Well it's pretty obvious a part of him Still wants you and misses you... you were once part of his life so he can't just forget about you.. but different people with different personality.. some guys won't do that some will just completely erase you... so it depends on the guy

I kinda wish he would just remove me. The uncertainty is horrible to deal with. I could remove him, but then that's me closing that door, which I don't want to do and then I have no inclination of where his heads at by removing that option for him

Well am pretty sure he has is own reasons... you don't have to be certain of why he did that.. just move on that's up to him... am sure they are some things he doesn't want you to see... guys do that a lot.. but it's cool... just don't give a fuck about it

He's got commitment issues because some girl burned him or he doesn't want to grow up. Either way, if you want a relationship and he doesn't then the hell with him. Go find a guy who values you more, and wants something more serious than "friends that fuck".

You don't miss your water till your well runs dry. He will realize who and what he lost soon enough if you were good to him, and if he doesn't then he's a moron. Don't wait for this idiot to pull his head out of his ass, move on with your life.

It doesn't seem like he does have commitment issues, he's in a new relationship, so he restricted me in hopes i either wouldn't find out, or didn't want to hurt me.

Either way, I've learnt now when someone says "I don't want a relationship with you or anyone else" they mean the former... they just don't want a relationship with you, full stop.

Something kind of similar happened to me. It was me who muted him because it hurt me so much to see his stuff. For my mental health, I ended up unfriending him and removing him from my followers. Don't care what he'll think or that you're closing the door. Think about what's good for you. If he wanted you in his life, he'd have you in it. Either because he doesn't care or he's not mentally/emotionally in a place for a relationship, you deserve someone who is...

Still able to keep tabs and have that line of communication open if he ever plucks up the courage to tell me he's made a mistake
