My friends with benefits (guy) told me he needs to step back from this arrangement because he’s going to try to work on himself for awhile?

I’v been in this friends with benefits type of situation for over 2 years with him, I didn’t respond but I don’t think I should, what do you think of what my friends with benefits (guy) means in regards to what he said to me?

It really hurt a lot for me after reading that message that he said to me, but the way he said it, sounds temporary but I’m not sure, what do you think in regard to what he said to me? My friends with benefits (Guy) said to me is that “I’m going to try to work on myself for awhile, so I’m going to have to take a step back from this arrangement.”

He intends it to be permanent but could backtrack on that decision. Best to ask if he wants to still hang out as friends or if he wants you to block him

I would just wish him luck and move on. No you’re not obligated to say anything, but if unless you’re feeling animosity about it then why not mutually end things on a amicable note?
