Boyfriend gets pissed when men stare at me?

So me and my boyfriend were on date and men were staring at me, my boyfriend mentioned some men were stopping car and looking at me he got upset over it.. he said people stare at you a lot and i just shrugged had nothing to say but i could see his face he looked upset later me told me doesn't like when men stare at me.. now i don't understand why is he getting upset over this?
