Why do guys say mean things…?

In high-school when I was performing my scene as a the protagonist talking to the mirror saying “mirror mirror on the wall who is the prettiest of them all” this random guy in the crowd said not you. I felt so embarrassed since it was in front of everyone as well as it really impacted my self esteem. I don’t understand why some guys are so mean… how would they feel if someone shouted an insult at them on stage? Can someone tell me why some guys are jerks? And what their motivation is from saying something like that…

Good thing it wasn't me, I would have walked over to him and slapped him in the face and then went back and repeated my part... not sure that would be a scene he'd want to see a second take on!

If it helps that had nothing to do with you personally. He was being a prick and interrupting a performance, taking the opportunity to try to win “cool” points by acting out and drawing attention to himself and getting a laugh from his peers. Literally any other person couldn’ve been in your position and the same dipshit would’ve made the same juvenile, unimaginative joke.

I wouldn't get so hung up on what 1 person says. It could be so much worse because I've seen it. If you can walk and don't have Physical Impairments that sets you back then your ok.
