Is there hope for the guy who ghosts?

I've had guys where we were talking but eventually they started taking so long to reply (12+ hours) that I just didn't continue the conversation (I hate being on delivered/read for long periods of time all the time).

Anyway most of the time these guys reached out again after a few months of no contact but I'm trying to figure out whether I should even reply now. Do guys who become text inefficient ever come back and maintain seriousness and effort, enough to be efficient?

I'm worried that if I continue texting again like normal they'll start taking long to reply again.
