Will my guy friend get the hint that I like him?

A few months ago I made the mistake of telling my guy friend that we have no relationship potential. I like him but I am pretty sure he won't like me back. Even if he does like me back, I have no faith our relationship will never work out. One day, I want to confess to him that I like him by giving him a peck kiss on his cheek out of surprise.

I'm going to put this idea to bed now because it needs to end: "dropping hints" usually doesn't work. Not for men, not women, nobody. When you send mixed signals you risk a lot of failure if you want to communicate something. I also have to ask: why would you want to tell him if you don't think he'd like you back or you two lack relationship potential, especially with spontaneous affection?

I'm going to say no, because you told him that you don't want to date him. That's a pretty clear sign that anything else isn't actually a hint even if he thinks it is. So any hints you try and lay down he's going to think you're just fucking with him. You have to have an open honest conversation if you want to change anything, if you don't think it would work out in the long term don't change anything and just don't date him
