Why are men like this?

To cut a long story short- my boss found out that I like him and am attracted to him. He used to be so sweet and nice to me and now he is super awkward and avoids me. I don’t talk to him or have never acted on my feelings. I feel like absolute sh**. Why are guys like this? He deleted me off Instagram too. I wasn’t going to act on it at all and I have always stayed professional. I can’t help who I like and I can't help how I act. But I have never even flirted with him and try to act normal. Why is he like this?

He probably doesn't want to catch a suit. As your superior, he has to cover his behind any way he can. In my experience I've never personally abided by dirty jokes in the workplace surrounding female coworkers. One time, a female boss even ribbed me when I made a different comment to a female coworker that I didn't intend to be dirty. Like a whip I said back, "that's not what I meant you said it, not me." For him, he has a huge responsibility so I can imagine he doesn't want to risk a scandal with a coworker who likes him that way.

There's also the possibility on top of this that he likes you back, which could compromise his position even more. I'm guessing he doesn't want to hurt you, but he needs to protect his career.

In order to prevent sexual harassment, bosses are not allowed to have romantic relationships with people who work under them. So your boss is avoiding you so that no one can accuse him of being interested in you, which might hurt his career.

This is why it is best to never reveal to anyone who you work with who you like. Your boss despite you saying you have never acted on your feelings, I guess he is making sure he doesn't do anything that will give the impression he feels the same way. He himself he likely trying to protect himself and his job and possibly his relationship or marriage.

Because he might have developed feelings for you or might have started to and so he broke off private contact with you to not endanger his relationship or marriage.
