Opinions please?

The guy that I like’s friend keeps liking my stories and posts on Instagram (I haven’t sparked up a conversation with him or liked any pictures back) he’s also complimented me before and I just messaged back thanking him to be polite. The two of them are together because they’ve just posted a story in the same place and his friend messaged me trying to start up a conversation. Is this because he doesn’t know I’m speaking to his friend and his friend hasn’t mentioned me at all? Or are they testing me (very immature if so) It’s very odd to me as a female because if I was speaking to and liked a guy my friends won’t be showing interest.

It’s possible the guy you are chatting with either doesn’t like you in that way or knows his friend likes you so he’s telling him to go for it.
