So me and this guy have been talking awhile now and all of a sudden he decides he doesn’t want to anymore bc we were going to have to be long distance. He texts me the other night and we started texting some again. When I would tell things that me and my family did like being competitive he would said “Sounds like a good time i like competitiveness like that.” Then I was telling what me and my family eat every year on Christmas Day and he says “😏 Sounds like a good tradition. I like stufff like that.” So why is he saying stuff like this all of a sudden?
It could either be him trying to make a connection or he’s just relaying that he’s into things like that, they’re pretty generic. In any case, I feel as though he’s leading you on at this point and it would be better not to engage. My reason for saying this is that I’m sure he likes you, but the situation doesn’t change and he knows that. Like you aren’t going to be any less long distance, and that’s specifically something he doesn’t want. So it’s not ok or fair for him to keep trying to talk to you, knowing he doesn’t want anything because of the distance. If you disagree, then ask him if his mindset has changed and he doesn’t mind the distance, or if he genuinely wants something.

Those are things that not every family does, so he's just telling you that he shares the same values that you and your family do. I don't think there's any more to be read into beyond that. He's just letting you know that he finds you and your family relatable.
Sounds like he's just participating in a conversation?
