On the first date or two, I'd definitely pay. Since I'm the one that's inviting her out. If we get to a point where we are both happy with each other, and we're not talking to anybody else-- you know, that awkward phase where you're together but not officially, then at that point I'd be more than happy to let her take some of the bills via splits or pitching in for food or drinks.

If we're officially together, then we're pretty much splitting most of the time. If I want to do something special, like cook at home for her, or surprise her with a nice dinner somewhere or tickets to something, then I'll pay for that. Presents, nice gestures, I'll give plentifully. But general stuff like shopping, grabbing some food, going to the movies etc, we'd both help each other out or pay for ourselves.

I've never been with someone who genuinely expects and wants me to pay for everything. And I never will. Because I wouldn't be into somebody who thinks it's okay to burden their partner with all the bills for the sake of "being a gentleman". To me, there's simply some lack of compassion for the other person if that's the case. If we're together, we're now a team, looking out and helping each other. That's how it's always been for me, and there's been no problems. 💜

I feel like I typically would out of wanting to be kind and whatnot.

But being made as if I HAVE to do it is nothing short of ANNOYING.

I don't HAVE to do anything, I'm paying for our dinner because I LIKE you.

When you put bullshit obligations like that on it, it just takes all the interest out.

No. That made sense when men were the bread winners and women were expected to be housewives. Now they're earning just like men, time to start putting their hands in their pockets.

No, not in this day and age. Everyone wants equality so she should pay as well. Not just equality when it benefits you.

No. The asker should pay, or at least offer. But if it's my birthday she's paying!

Every bit as much as the lady should always be in the kitchen with bare feet.

If we don’t know each other and it’s a first date then we both split the bill.

    Definitely not. That’s not equality.
