Now that, I don't have a smart-ass answer for! haha Honestly, I would probably just assume that you aren't very high on his list of priorities and find someone new to talk to. Two things I'm seeing as I get older are that (1) people are really self absorbed and suck at putting effort into things that involve change because of how complacent they are, and (2) that people don't actually have any reason for the VAST majority of things they do.

So all of the above is to say; you're probably talking to someone who isn't very mature or self aware, and you aren't ever going to find a good explanation for why he can't be bothered to act like he gives a shit.
