What comes off as desperate to guys?

I’d like a general answer to the question in the title, but also I asked to see this guy maybe twice in the last week and he hasn’t come. He messaged me yesterday asking randomly what I’m doing and then went on to say he’s gona relax at home for the day, usually when he says this id ask if he wants company but I didn’t this time because he flaked the past two times.

He then messaged me at 2am after the club seemingly wanting to come over , but not coming right out and saying it so I just told him to enjoy his night.

Would it come off as desperate if I ask to see him, even though he flaked the last two times I asked?

We were seeing each other for about 6 weeks.. we used to spend a lot of time together, basically we established from the first time that we weren’t looking for a relationship.. he started acting weird, not coming to see me or asking to see me as often.

I asked him about it and he said he felt like o was pushing for a relationship so he took a step back. I explained to him that I was just acting based off of what he was doing, taking me on dates asking to see me often, sleeping over etc. since that convo , we haven’t seen each other as often, but he still messages me often, calls me etc. as normal but we just haven’t seen each other as often. I’ve basically backed off, but trying to take it light.
