HOW TO DEAL WITH A NON TEXTER / DRY TEXTER?

I like this guy and he likes me back. When I'm around him I feel safe and all those good feelings and he gets very communicative. Problem is when I'm not with him. He still texts here and there, he sends me his whereabouts but guy is too direct, at times he would check up on me or text to set up a date and that's it. I don't even know what to say to him or it's as if he doesn't know what to say to me yet he does when we're together 🤔🤔. How do I get him to text
