Why does my co worker do this when we talk?

Whenever we talk/whenever he comes to me or I come up to him, he occasionally won’t make eye contact with me, i. e, staring at the ground or looking away/looking up at the ceiling but he usually has this small grin/side smile on his face whenever he does it or has widened eyes.
