What does it mean when a guy says he doesn't want to get distracted?

So it was going well with this guy we spoke everyday for a month even with our busy schedules, one morning he messaged saying he prioritises his work and himself and doesn't want to make same mistakes as before and get distracted and if its an issue to let him know. He basically couldn't fit me in to ring me etc and keep up with his own life.

So his ''career'' is dead before he even tried one.

Although... I think he just does not want to put in effort into a relationship with you... and uses a lame excuse to 'explain' it.

Ahaha I completely agree, I just don’t get if he actually liked me or was just messing around cos he’d give a lot of effort in his replies and apologise, that’s what I find so confusing!

He's just afraid of scaring you away. Just give him his time, and he will figure out how to do it.
