Guys, What's the best compliment you've ever received?

First a story and then what is really the best one.

The story: I was tasked with writing an award for a Navy Sailor. The award was going to be signed by the Secretary of Defense. It had a multiple page narrative as well as a lengthy citation that was to be publicly read when it was awarded. It had to be reviewed by my entire chain of command, as well as numerous four-star admirals and senior leaders at the Pentagon before going to SecDef for his signature. The papers finally left my office on its way up the chain of command. Months later, we received the award, approved and signed -- unchanged. So, that was a pretty awesome compliment about my writing.

The real best compliment? People tell me I'm kind.

I remember this one time when my wife said that I'm such an asshole and idiot on the surface but I'm actually the most thoughtful person she ever met. I liked that one. Not sure if it's my favorite but it's one of the better ones.

Also another one from my friends. They said my bravery is too much and had turned me into a complete dumbass, never stopped by fear to dive into a burning building or say something no one else dares to say. I loved that one too.

I always favored the ones that seem to really notice what's fucked up about me. I don't like the generic ones like, "You're so handsome", or, "You're so smart", or whatnot. Anyone can say that to anyone.

Recently my niece made me a Christmas card saying I’m the best uncle in the world. She may be biased :)

Best over all was Bronze star for serving my Country.
