Is there a way to check if a guy has a girlfriend?

A guy recently broke up with me saying he doesn’t think the relationship will be lasting because we didn’t really know each other since we had met online. He also said it’s because he still have feelings for an ex and might want to get back with her though he later admitted using that as an excuse for the break up. He said he lied about that and said has no intentions to get back with her. And before leaving he said he’s quite conflicted and might feel differently about our situation if he has some space to think. I understand it however it feels like he’s actually trying to cover the fact that he’s in fact trying to get back with her and regretted telling me. Then used a reverse technique to avoid sounding like a dick. Is there a way to find out other than asking him? Any signs?

You could ask him who he goes on vacation with or what he likes to do during the weekends. Most of the taken guys I know will look for excuses to slip their girlfriend into the conversation within two weeks of interaction cause they want to drive suitors away.

Hmm we haven’t really engaged in any conversation since. I’m assuming he’s probably just hooking up with other girls or actually trying to get his girlfriend back. I don't know first he said we won’t really talk again and then said he’s unstable.. like apparently his thoughts had just come and were not final. so I think either he’s really not sure about this or wants to check if he has any luck with his girlfriend.. he hasn’t deleted me yet so I’m assuming he’s not back with her yet., Do I just remove him so he gets the message that I lost interest?

Also I had asked him several times if he’s interested to see her again and he kept saying it was a lie and apologized but i don’t really believe him lol

I would suggest you to delete his messages because you may wast time rereading it and overthinking. Block his number and occupy yourself and listen to bts songs like "love myself " and "I fine" helps too ~

A learning part would be probably to back away from someone who say's he still has feelings for his ex.
It's good if one can be honest that they do it shows they do want to be good but when your in a mess like that you won't really make the correct choices. Which means you will get hurt by him even if he tried to be his best.

Yeah tbh i wouldn’t have agreed to even meet him if he expressed about the ex situation earlier. He had looked eager to do sexual things so it never seemed that way to me

Well I had asked him at the time (a few times) and he insisted he had lied about that. But he also didn’t really look interested to meet out again although he said he might feel differently in a few weeks. So far no response. So I think he wanted to let me go in a gentle way
