I attract strangers but not people i’m always around?

Question

I live in this specific dorm building and I’m sorta part of this friend group. We always hang out downstairs in the lobby so naturally we see a lot of people who live in the building everyday. No guy ever looks at me like theyre somewhat interested in me, either in the friend group or in the dorm building. but when i go to the other dorm buildings, there's guys who try to talk to me and they genuinely looked interested in me. Or if i’m going to the store or a drive in, they seem interested in me. What does it mean if I don’t attract people close to me, that I see everyday or talk to them everyday. But I seem to attract strangers?

My guess is that the guys in the friend group (and your dorm) either think of you like a sister (not what you want to hear but that's what I'm thinking it is) and don't want to mess up the friendship and companionship that you guys have OR they're scared to pursue anything because dorms are familial and they are scared of confusing your friendship for something more, even though it sounds like you might be open to something more. This may be the situation where if you're attracted to one of them you'll have to make the first move.

I have absolutely no idea. But if you like someone…. Approach. I couldn’t tell you the reason but I assume you’re not really into strangers which I do understand.

The problem is that if you never take intuitive to ask someone put yourself. You’re stuck with whoever asks you out. Sure you run the risk of rejection. But it’s just how it is. Whether you’re rejecting or being rejected. It’s not meant to be.

But just remember if you never make a move yourself. You’re stuck with whose making moves on you

Sometimes that's life. It's weird how attraction works like that.

... Then again the guys close to you could also be attracted to you but they don't want to let it be known. Also, there's a chance that they could be pushing the feelings down and trying to extinguish them. Since you're in the same building. Shoot, if it was me, I would hate to be attracted to a girl who I lived with. It would drive me crazy. Seeing her all the time and wanting to have sex with her.

There are a number of possible reasons. I could understand why a guy might not want to signal he’s attracted to you in a dorm. It could be awkward for him if you don’t reciprocate his interest. Another possible reason is that the Feds imposed regulations that put a presumption of guilt on men who are accused of assault, and many men have had their lives destroyed by this. So some men refuse to have anything to do with college women. Another reason - I’m assuming is this is not the case with you - would be if you have a bad reputation or personality and people in the dorm know it but other outside the dorm do not. I’m sure there are other potential reasons too.

people who see you every day or that often, they're just used to it and they are familiar with you... and for all others, you are a novelty... so it makes sense that it can draw some interest
