How should I approacha guy I like?

I want to talk to the guy I like, but I'm scared to do so. He sometimes says my name and asks me questions, but that still doesn't make me comfortable enough to start a conversation with him. He seems to talk to me only when no one else is around. Maybe he doesn't like me much and i shouldn't approach him?
