Please help is my boyfriend becoming emotionally abusive and have anger issues?

Before me and him started dating he was pretty rude, and was mean to me at times. As the idiot I am I forgave him once he apologized me and him starting dating. Afterwards he was still mean to me and I kept asking him to stop which he kept apologizing but keeps doing it all over again like today. Me and him were on call my dog came back from outside and I said “phew my dog smells like a filthy dog” he sounded pissed which I don’t know why? It’s not even his dog, he said “hey you don’t call her that” in a serious tone? I was confused but shrugged it off. Anyways he was talking and he paused and the sentence he was saying sounded like a complete sentence so of course I thought he was done I was talking than he lashed out at me saying “why are you being so f*cking disrespect and not letting me talk?” I laughed nervously because I was hoping this was a joke as I told him in the past to chose his words nicer just in case I explained myself and apoglozied that I didn’t know he was done talking just in case to my surprise he kept going saying i was lying to him and I was being rude to where he hanged up. More things happened but I don’t want to go into more detail does he sound like he has serious issues? Or am I in the wrong
