The guy I’m getting to know send a message that I barely remember what we talked last night why did he send this?

When we called last night he said he was drinking a bottle of wine. But it’s clear he remembers what we talked and beside that our conversation wasn’t much it was basic talked about our day.
Any reasons a guy would send such message that he was drunk and was he ok when we talked last night?

Yes just wondering why he said so because honestly the conversation was basic talking about our day. Nothing much and to me he was clearly sane not drunk lol. Even though he said he had wine. To me maybe it sounded him provoking me in a good way?
Because while talking together I told him “we are done for today “ bc we were feeling so tired. And he misheard it and he thought I told him -we are done together - he though I meant as in I don’t like him? Maybe. But I said no no no done for today not with you and he said ohh ok ok you scared me a little … maybe. That’s why he said this the day after that he doesn’t remember bc he felt ashamed he told me he got scared
