How come when I block people during an argument to cool off. When I return to resolve days later they block/ignore me?

Like I blocked them because it was an argument or an uncomfortable situation and h didn’t want us to say things we don’t mean and then when I return maturely explaining and letting them know why I did it in a mature way, they block me back?

I have never did this if my friends block me usually I give them days to cool off then I will reach them. and if they contact me after blocking me I will hear them out 100% and be happy to resolve

I think it goes back to the whole tit-for-tat thing. Perhaps, don't block them next time as blocking itself can be misconstrued as un-friending them. Just don't go back to the conversation. I would never say something to the effect that I took the mature route and blocked you so we could have a cooldown period, as this may appear condescending.

Best to send them one last message and say, I think it may be best for us to go our separate ways for now and then come back and discuss things later. I care about your friendship and I don't want to go somewhere we will both regret.

I just feel a lot of shame because they must have felt resentment toward me to not even want to hear me out, they could reply that they don’t forgive me for blocking them then block me again. But to not even open my message (maybe they seen what it said then put it as unread) but yeah I think to get over this best I just delete all photos with said people and take social media break, the balls in their court I already reached out and they blocked clearly they know I am interested in resolving

I know this whole social media thing is suppose to be good for keeping in touch, but, I think it can cause more problems than good. My daughter has had the same thing happen to her, where she is just in tears due to a misunderstanding. We discussed it, and she just talks on her phone now with her actual friends, no online friends, she is much happier. I was relieved bc it often made me sad to see her crying.

You send the message of "agree with me or you can't be in my life", it's fucking manipulative and extortion.

I don't need friends that will drop me at a moments notice so easily, so the people who temporarily block me or unfriend me over mild disagreements, you bet your ass I block them!

I understand.. to be honest I think the blocking thing is cause I have BPD. But anytime someone has blocked me I’ve let them back in, but there was one time I didn’t let the person back in because I was sure they blocked me to play games or entertain another girl and I didn’t have time for that. Blocking someone because you can’t handle your emotions is one of the most immature thing you can do. All you’d have to do is put your phone down, leave social media alone and cool off, but do you truly have so little self restraint that you can’t refrain from contacting someone while you’re mad? I would leave you blocked as well, simply because it’s just childish and disrespectful of you.

I hear you I don’t know maybe it’s because I had a toxic best friend and have also had a toxic situation ship in both of those relationships we would block each other when we argued and one of us would find our way back (usually me) perhaps I have to just be alone and heal myself from things

I get it, but blocking because you’re feeling upset, hurt or whatever just isn’t the way. To me it’s super insulting because deleting someone is one thing but blocking has so much finality and harshness to it. Many of us have had similar toxic situations in the past but you’ve got to elevate yourself from that and be better. Going forward you should figure out a healthier way to manage how you’re feeling and how you react.

I block people who block me and I don't go back to unblock them later. Maybe that is what is happening to you.

There are people here on GAG that will be messaging me and I go to reply and it says I'm blocked, then later they would unblock me. I simply started blocking anyone that does that, I am not going to play that game.

Because blocking isn't how you cool off. It's childish and immature. You cool off by cooling off and then you speak again. Blocking says "fuck you forever" -- you shouldn't be surprised when you return and they have blocked you and don't want to talk to you.

People tend to block people who block them. I don't, I don't block anyone except in extreme circumstances (twice in six years, I think). Personally, I find it's a sign of weakness, at least in political arguments, I'm not a woman getting unwanted attention.

I blocked a guy that I had an awkward second date with. Unblocked him to apologise and explain he didn’t even open the text
I blocked a friend that was making fun of me. Unblocked to explain why I did it and see if she regretted it. Again she didn’t even open the text and blocked me.
Maybe they did open the message but they have made it appear as they did not
