What's the etiquette for being friends with a guy who made it clear he only seeks casual relationships?

Obviously, I don't have to worry about hurting his feelings as much as one would if a guy wanted to have a relationship with me but I didn't want a relationship with him. In that case, it would be a good idea to limit the amount of times we visited per month, so as to not lead him on. But in this case, if it's just that i don't plan to ever have sex with him unless it's in a serious relationship, I might as well spend as much time as he wants to spend together, right? I guess the only rule of thumb here is to make sure our conversations steer clear of sex talk.

I hope you understand that if he's attracted to you, and he obviously is, that he can never really be your friend. Girls can do that, but guys cannot (with rare exceptions). Almost certainly, he is just biding his time waiting for you to either realize that you want to be with him, or for you to be vulnerable and seek comfort from him, but every path is leading to sex for him.

Men (who are single, straight, and have reasonably normal sex drives) are generally unable and usually uninterested in being "just friends", and most won't even try, but some guys will accept being in your "Friend Zone" because they assume that hanging around with you will EVENTUALLY lead to the two of you having sex.

Don't believe me? Tell him that you want to be just friends, and that there is never ANY chance that you will have sex with him... and then observe as he starts fading out of your life. As soon as you destroy all hope of sex, nearly all of your guy "friends" will disappear.

I'm telling you this because things can be very awkward, sometimes painful, and very occasionally dangerous if you don't understand this.

A man can be your romantic partner, your casual sex partner, or your acquaintance, but he cannot be your friend. If he's close enough to you to be considered a friend, you are in the Danger Zone.

Obviously the biggest risk here is that the smallest of actions by you might be interpreted by him as you wanting more. So spending a bunch of time at his place, might be interpreted by him as progressing towards a casual relationship.

Im sorry - i just have to say that I don't think spending as much time as he wants with him is a good idea.

As for etiquette- think about how you engage with your other friends.

There is a very big difference in how I act with male friends v. How I would act if I was interested and actively trying to pursue a guy. I wouldn't confuse the two.

wait so do either of you want a relationship with the other? you can be friends with him without it becoming something big, if you don't have feelings for him and he only does casual relationships so no feelings for you either? you don't have to limit your times together because of this, and you don't necessarily have to steer clear of talking about sex, you can be friends completely platonically

I can't think of single female friend I've had were I don't know what they are into sexually lol. Yet you don't see me getting confused whether they are a friend or not.
Unless you actually say you want to date him or visa versa and you say yes I don't see why there would be any confusion apart from self made but a self made delusion ain't exactly your fault.

let him know up front what your intentions are.
He may be fine with it, or hoping that it will lead to more.
Then if he wants more out of the relationship and you don't he isn't wasting his time and the possibility of finding someone that would like the same thing in a relationship.

Just treat the friendship as you would if he was a girl except that you don't exactly tell him personal stuff like, about periods, make-up, chasing boys, having sex, etc..

The best way to avoid sexual feelings toward each other is to blow him a few times and use your teeth.
Eventually, when you ask him if he wants head he'll say, "Umm... sure. Maybe later though? I'm good right now"

And voila! The two of you can now be friends.
