Would you hold hands with a female friend?

A few months ago me and my guy friend were at a party going through a crowd. He reached for my hand and we walked outside hand in hand, when we got outside i felt awkward after a little so I let go. A few weeks later I asked him and he said he just held hand with me because he didn’t want me to get lost. Which doesn’t make sense because it wasn’t that crowded and I’m not a baby. What do you think might have some feeling or is this normal?

The only people that have ever held my hand in public or walking around have been boyfriends (when younger) or spouse (now). I have never had a guy friend try to hold my hand. Sounds like he has some feelings and tried to make a move.

He might have been testing to see what your reaction would be to it. Is there anymore context to your friendship/relationship with this guy? Has he been hinting or flirting with you? How long have you known him? Etc, etc.

That might give me a better idea as to his intention. You can reply to me here or use the update box to update the question with more info. If you do, I will revise my opinion accordingly.

If there is not more info to the situation, I would stick with he was trying to see your reaction and likely has some feelings beyond friendship. That isn't a normal friend like thing to do. At least, it has not been normal in any of my friendships.

Because of the instance he held your hand and not just randomly, like sitting and chatting somewhere, driving in the car, etc, it makes me believe what he says. Are you sure you don’t have a crush on him? Otherwise I don’t think that moment is worth extensive analysis.

I wouldn't if I wanted to keep it within the bounds of friendship. Holding a girls hand can be quite sexy, in a sex-electric way, and it might not be reversible. I don't know how girls react but I know how I react.

On the other hand I have held countless girls hands in partner dancing, and of course nearly every time there is no spark but occasionally there is.

Not likely. I mean maybe if I KNEW she would not get the wrong idea from it. Women take almost and physically interaction sexually so not likely.
