Guys, will you reject a gift from a girl you have no interest in?

So I confessed to my best guy friend and got rejected. And he ghosted me. Fine. BUT.. I got chocolates for a few of my friends the other day. Since I was busy, I asked someone else to pass it to this guy coz I still consider him a friend despite what he's doing. But it backfired on me.

He saw it and told the person to take it away. He called the chocolate rubbish. So my friend was like.. why? And he said he didn't want it coz it was from me. My friend refused to accept that reason and didn't wanna take it away so he took it and gave it to someone else in front of her eyes.

I don't get it. He seemed so mad about the chocolates. Is it normal for guys to reject a gift from someone they have no interest in? And up till they extent of calling it rubbish?
