Guys, If a girl is receptive but doesn't reciprocate your advances, do you take that as rejection?

Let's say a guy is flirting (including light touching here and there) and complimenting a girl and she doesn't reciprocate but doesn't pull away either. Would the guy think she's not interested and move on? Or would he keep pursuing her?

Keep pursuing for a while but at a certain point I'd take it as a hint that she's not interested.

In your opinion, how would a woman show you she's interested?

I recently went out with a man who I had expressed interest for prior to meeting him. Once I was in his presence I got really nervous because he was even more attractive in person. He flirted and touched me a lot (hair, face, back, arm, shoulder) and complimented me on my physical appearance and personality. I wanted to touch him back and express how attractive he was but I just couldn't bring myself to do it out of nerves. He must've realized I was nervous since he said I was fidgeting a lot. But he hasn't called me since we went out and I can't help but think it's because he thinks I'm not interested due to his age. He's 18+ years older than I am. Prior to meeting he once told me that when I meet him and see his wrinkles I would no longer be interested. Could that be the reason why he hasn't called me? Or did he lose interest in me? He seemed really into me though.

Impossible to say. Generally women show interest by just focusing their attention on you, hanging on what you say & etc. Then you test the waters by the sort of things he was doing and see what reaction you get. If you didn't react he could have read it several ways.

Ok, well I did make a lot of eye contact and engage in conversation, smiled a lot and laughed at his jokes (even the ones that weren't as funny). However, towards the end of the night when he started touching me and pouring compliments, I totally froze. I don't think I even thanked him when he complimented me! I did thank him for dinner though. We went out 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard from him. Should I call him or cut my losses and move on?

No worries, I understand.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and just give him a call and tell him I'd like to see him again. If he ignores my call then I'll have my answer. I would've called him sooner but I was always told (especially by female friends) that women should never chase men. I don't know how true that is.

Since he's much older than I am and proved to be such a chivalrous guy the night we went out, I would've expected him to at the very least tell me he didn't feel any chemistry between us and that he's no longer interested. I'm a big girl, I can handle rejection. It's the fact that he has disappeared without closure that upsets me. It doesn't spare a woman's feelings at all. It's mean spirited and very cowardly.
