Men in the new office apologize to me for cursing or being too loud even though I didn't say anything. Why?

I don't even display any annoyance. I went to sit my them and they were immediately like we will behave ourselves and not curse or get loud around you. I am a quiet girl but I don't really mind how they behave. So why did they start with that?

For one a lot of men growing up we’re taught never to curse in front of women. That’s it’s not polite, it’s offensive, rude, etc. Two, nowadays you have to be careful w everything you say, especially around females. A female can easily turn your words around, accusing you of sexual harassment, a hostile work environment, etc.

A lot of men who curse don't do it around women. When I was doing construction work we cursed like crazy, but when any women were around we toned it down. And yea, sometimes we'd apologize if we cursed by accident without noticing they were there. If there were any children around, we were even more likely to apologize.

Men know we have to walk on eggshells around women in the office less they get offended about nothing and ruin our job/life
