Why do men act uninterested in me even though they are attracted to me?

I've seen some men checking me out and staring at me. However when I talk with them they seem to be very quiet, don't make a lot eye contact and look at other women. Sometimes I feel that they go out of their way to show me that I'm unattractive and boring even though I know that this is not the case since they act like this from the very beginning when they haven't had enough time to get to know me.

Why do they act like this? I never try too hard since I'm not attracted to any of these men.

For the same reason women do it. They don't want to look like a chump, showing interest in girls who obviously aren't interested in them.

Or they have a girlfriend and they're trying their best to be a good boy. Once that ball gets rolling, it's hard to stop

If you aren't interested, why do you care? Focus on what's important and you claim they aren't.
