He literally said to me: I don't like you. Should I move on?

I've been talking to this guy for the last two months, we were good, always talking and joking around, teasing each other, making each other laugh, even opening up and discussing deep topics. He was interested in me. I liked him and started seeing him as a potential partner. Until the day I mentioned something he didn't like (and it had nothing to do with him), he said to me "I don't like you much right now", minutes before that he was talking and joking with me as usual, but when he said this to me I felt it as a slap across my face, it hurt me so much and made me feel bad about myself, and on top of that it made me realize that he's no longer into me. I spent the rest of the day crying.
Should I forget about him and move on? Was it just a moment of anger that will pass and he would return to being his old self? Is it even possible for a man to lose interest that instantly?
The topic was about me wanting to neuter my cat, he adores cats and so do I.
