Why would guy would want to know my height?

Is it common thing that guy wants to know about a girl?
We we’re talking about playing basketball against each other. He said our height difference might cause problems. I haven’t told him my height but I took it as opening to discuss about our height

And hight tends to be a massive factor into being good at basketball so that's why I believe he brought it up

by the way he’s said that perhaps he could play basketball when the weather gets warmer. He’s asked if he ever visits my neighborhood would I be his “guide”. I don't know why he’s saying these things but he hasn’t really asked me out
