Boyfriend too clingy?

My boyfriend and I have known each other for almost a year talking online and started seeing each other in person last December. He lives almost 2 hours away and we are every two weeks. But he texts all day every day from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep. He used to call every other day now it's 3 times a day. He's dealing with a lot of stress lately. But I also feel like he's keeping tabs on me. Because throughout the day he was ask "wyd?" two days ago he got upset because he felt like he was the only one initiating the texts and I was responding less... Even though we were talking off and on throughout the day. He told me over the phone and then claimed to be sorry for seeming clingy. Only to continue to do all the things I mentioned above. He now also tells me when he's going to call and to texts him when I'm done doing something or tells me to text or he will right after getting off the phone. I love him but it's bad when I feel like I need space when we live 2 hours apart.

Just make it clear with him that you need space. Discuss with him a timeframe he can message you within the day and don't reply until then. He'll get used to it.

Def clingy but I would be asking him how does he have time to text so often? He should be working on projects and can check in a few times right

I see I found a fellow clinger. I'm 33 years old two teenage kids got out of a 17 year long abusive marriage. I can survive with him going a few hours without texting (he can't even do that much for me). And he can go back to calling every other day. It's so bad I roll my eyes when he calls me.
