What does it mean if a guy only texts you once a week and what is the point?

Used to text a guy everyday and now he texts me once a week. Im guessing he is keeping his options open and is trying to keep me interested. But what exactly is the point of reaching out to a girl only once a week. I do not understand this at all. If you are going to do that, at least ask me to hookup. Is he trying to drive me crazy or something
