So I have a crush on my study buddy who I know doesn't like me back. But whenever I talk to people about our interactions, they keep saying that he cares about me.

This confuses me because I just want my feelings to disappear and when they say that it gives me false hope. Why do they keep saying that and should I actually give up in him?
