Guys, what is the ‘sidewalk rule’?

I’ve heard this a lot. Does it really matter where you walk on the sidewalk if you’re with someone?

Well according to a lot of women, men should walk on the sides closes to traffic in case something happens like someone splashes water on them accidentally or on purpose. Which if it’s a big splash it won’t matter they will both get drenched. Or a car goes plowing up on the sidewalk he’s suppose to take the hit thus saving her life. Chances are you’ll both get plowed by the car. Which is bs it’s 2023, equality right? Lol or are we back to women being the prize, taken care of. When I was growing up it was women first, so let her be the first to get hit by the car. What kind of phuked up sh* is that lol she gets to live, continuing to sleep w other men while the worms eat your dead corpse.

Usually, it was thought that a man should walk on the side of the sidewalk facing the street to shield her from cars or puddles. In reality, a speeding car is still going to ran through both of you unless you see it and push her out of the way.

In theory, the man is supposed to walk on the side closest to the street to protect his date from being splashed by vehicles passing by.
