So I’m visiting my boyfriend tomorrow and he asked (not told/ordered) me if I could wear this blue dress he saw me wearing the other day in a picture. His exact words were “If I may ask, could you wear that blue dress I saw you in that picture the other day?” He said I looked very cute and wanted to see me in it. It did catch me slightly off guard and I know some people try to control what their partners wear, however it seems more of like he’s asking me for a favor. Is this normal/okay?

I would totally ask a girlfriend to wear something i liked. But like him, I'm not ordering it or anything. If she said no, fine. I hope she wouldn't say no all the time tho.

I think if you say okay this time and no the next time, then it shows him that you aren't going to do it all the time. And if he overreacts then you know he is gonna force the issue more, and you should run.

I don't think this is weird or controlling at all. My husband asks me to wear certain clothing I own that he finds me super sexy in. It's like a subtler version of lingerie kinda? It means he thinks you look amazing in it and would like to see you in the dress in person because it got him flustered 🤭
