Do guys accept to be friends with a girl they're not attracted to?

The majority of men do not, even if they don't realize why. Obviously a few exceptions will exist.

To make another generalization, the vast majority of "friendships" between a man and a woman will largely benefit the woman and cost the man. Women tend to be very needy, and they go to their male friends for attention, problem-solving, and favors - and most women do little for him in return (again, a few exceptions exist).

So, why do men become friends with women at all? In most cases (exceptions exist), it's because he's sexually attracted to her. Often, the woman is either oblivious to the fact that he's sexually attracted to her, or chooses to be in denial, but in almost all cases, he's sexually attracted to her.

In the case where he's actually tried to date her, and she's rejected him, if he chooses to remain friends with her, that's what we call the Friend Zone, and the reason many men accept being in the Friend Zone is because they think that being in her orbit will allow him to swoop in the next time her boyfriend makes her upset or breaks up with her, and he'll finally get his chance.

So many women don't believe this, and believe their "guy friend" is just her friend, but if she were ever to offer sex to that guy, 99.99999% of the time, the guy will be in his car and on his way over to her before she can get the last syllable out of her mouth.

One thing that rarely gets mentioned is the fact that a lot of men intentionally do NOT have female friends (and when I say "friends", I'm not talking about acquaintances - he'll have plenty of those, I mean people he hangs out with on his own time by choice). Lots of men avoid having female friends, because it's just not worth the hassle of constantly having her taking up his time or asking for help/favors. These men tend to make it clear to women that if you want his attention, you're only getting it if he's getting sex - otherwise, you can only reach the level of "acquaintance" with him.

Me accepting her as a friend goes beyond initial attraction/her appearance. I may think someone is good looking but not want them as a friend, simply because I know our characters would clash. Similarly, the girl may not be overly attractive to me, but if everything jives well, then I would be friendly with her, if we don't get along or it is difficult then I am less likely to want her as a friend.

In a nutshell, appearance has little to do with whether I accept them as a friend, it all comes down to compatibility, just like any relationship.

Sure... in some ways, it's easier to be friends with girls I'm not attracted to.

I friendzone girls I become friends with immediatley, which I make clear from the beginning casually and it makes things a lot simpler. I get to do nice shit for them and vice versa without either of us worrying about one of us liking the other.

Although, I've noticed this often means some of them are likely to have a crush on me at some point, which can create an awkward situation. Thankfully most of the ones I am friends with who did like me at one point didn't even mention it until years later where it didn't matter anymore.
