I know that one of my friends ( lets call him X) has a crush on me and I do as well, but we never spoke about our feelings. His behaviour is very obvious for the past 4 months to all of our friends group that there could be a potential for something to happen between us.
Today we were out as a group and one of the girls told X that she found a match for him and he initially was interested in knowing more details about this girl and said I can talk to her in few months but not now.
As the night progressed, everyone tried to convince him to talk to the girl now and he was trying to find excuses to delay it.
I pretended that I was okay with the discussion bcz I was not sure whether he was genuinely interested in this girl and I was misreading the whole situation, or this was a terrible move from this female in our group when she knows he is interested.
i jumped and asked him why he doesn’t give this girl a chance, and he answer was a straight no in an angry tone. Then he was noted to be upset the whole night and he was noted to be staring at me the whole time at the same time.
I reached out to him and he took a while to respond after we went home, then he said he was fine after I asked if everything was okay with him as he didn’t look too happy.
Any possible explanation to his behaviours?

Based on the information you provided, it's possible that X may have felt pressured by the group to pursue the girl they found a match for him with. He may have been hesitant to pursue her because he is interested in you and doesn't want to risk losing the chance to be with you. His anger and upset demeanor after being asked about the girl could be a sign of his frustration with the situation.
However, without talking to X directly, it's impossible to know for sure what's going on with him. It may be worth having an open and honest conversation with him about your mutual feelings and what you both want from your relationship moving forward. This could help clear up any misunderstandings and prevent any further confusion or miscommunication.
