It’s probably a bit of guilt, maybe he wants to talk or whatever but trying to mind his girlfriend. I’ve had male friends like him who do this, then when they break up with their girlfriend wanna come back and be all cool as if nothing happened. On one hand I can understand but on the other it makes or friendship feel fake.
