Try asking him out. If he rejects you. Then move on. If he gives you any other answer besides yes or no. Just leave him be and the ball is in his court. You did your part at that point

Yeah true I get it. Rejection really is scary. But, even worst case scenario he rejects you. You aren’t wasting time on someone who isn’t into you.

"Scared of rejection" Why? It's not that big a deal. You aren't dating him now. If he declines then you in exactly the same position except you can focus your attention elsewhere.
