Was I hired just because I’m pretty?

I recently was hired on a team of all men except one other girl. They’re all upper 30’s and I’m 28. During the interview one guy right off the bat started with a technical question required for the job. I did not answer it correctly or well or confidently at all. But the rest of the interview went well. There were 2 other people before me. I was hired the day after my interview and the guy who interviewed me (who asked me the question) told me he was SO impressed by my interview and my knowledge and experience and just knew I was the one and didn’t even have to reconsider the others, he was SO excited about me joining them and felt I was the one they are missing in their team like the one they’ve been looking for. I honestly was surprised by what he said considering I didn’t answer the question right and my experience isn’t that great. Is it because I’m pretty?

I have never seen what you look like but there is no rhyme or reason to why you got hired. It could be tha you had as skillset that was missing from the group of maybe you seemed like you could learn the technical stuff but had a great attitude. Then again, maybe you were hired for your looks. Either way, congratulations.

Could be, but could also not be. Maybe the other ones gave worse answers or had worse curriculum. Maybe they need an attractive person for pr. For sure pretty girls are way more confident than ugly ones, and more social. You don't realize it, because you pretty girl had, during all your life, many experiences that made your personality grow, while plain girls had nothing special in their life.
Maybe the guy exaggerated a bit with his excitement, but pretty girl excite men by default.
So, don't make any paranoia and start you job with joy and happiness!

Possible, can't say for sure. I'd hire people because I thought was a good personality/culture fit for the group and company. Made a lot of good decisions and a few I regretted.

Don’t know w out a pic. But it could be. Doesn’t necessarily mean you’re pretty either. Could be a quota as far as hiring females. Maybe he felt pressured to hire a female. Maybe you were just the least worst of all the interviewees. Maybe he’s trying to plow you. There’s a lot of maybes.

It gonna lie it’s been researched as a variable. And it likely played a part.

But look at it from the hirer’s point of view. He can’t hire some bimbo who couldn’t do the job. So yeah, looks played 20%, but your skills and experience were 80%
