Please don't try to change him. It's impossible and in relationship term, it's called incompatible.

What you can do however, is to give the relationship a chance to grow.

Talk to him, and be very honest and open. Don't be afraid to lose him. Instead encourage him to be open and honest too.

After that, decide if you're "compatible". Do not force it if you cannot accept his behaviors after that. It's better for both parties to move on than to suffer conflicts for as long as you're together.
