A guy friend told me he wasn’t attracted to me and also said he thinks I’m gorgeous and is turned on by my body-I’m confused?

So I’m confused because if I weren’t attracted to someone I wouldn’t always be complimenting their body or saying they turned me on or that I think they’re gorgeous-does “not attracted to” someone mean something else to guys?

There is much more to a person than the body alone.

If the intellect and character do not match that body, then the attraction may be solely physical but not for the rest. Perhaps that this person places more importance on other assets and thinks that you don't have those. It is rare to find a person that places more importance on character, personality and intellect and not just on the looks.

If a person has a despicable character, has a rotten personality but looks gorgeous, then 2 out of 3 assets are negative and all the beauty in the world will not be able to compensate for the lack of those 2 negative assets.

I think I would understand this more if he were some random man who I was interested in and if he had said “I’m not attracted to you but you’re gorgeous, your body blah blah” because maybe he wanted to let me down easy or something but this is someone I have been friends with for a while and he always initiates commenting on my body or how I look while saying he is not attracted to me. I don’t know why he doesn’t keep the comments about my body to himself in this case

My comment was more of a figure of speech and I don't think you are despicable. Perhaps he only sees you as a person to be intimate with. Don't think too much into it. Guys are wired strangely :-)
