Guys, are you any good at decorating?

I like to think I have a decent eye for decorating, but women are much better. Women generally have a really good eye for aesthetics and their ability to imagine is impressive when the finished product comes together and I'm able to see what they were dreaming of.

The best projects I've worked on are when the woman is in charge of design and the man steps in to put limits on budget and engineering issues. And to reel her in if she starts nitpicking about unnoticeable details or changing her mind when it's too late.

The worst projects I've worked on are when the husband says "She's the boss," and things go way over budget or way behind schedule because of all the changes and unnecessary complications that end up resulting from catering to her fickle desires.

I have some art background and have good taste. But my wife and I still have to make joint decisions when it comes to paint colors and art. She defers to me a lot but neither of us would dream of choosing anything without the other's approval.

We painted the rooms of our house fun colors and did some faux texturing on some of the surfaces. We're both quite pleased with the results.

I am no good at this. For one thing, I am colorblind. I used to hate it when my wife would drag me to the store to look at paint colors. Thrn I figured out a trick. I own a lot of DeWalt power tools and they are all a bright yellow color. Whenever my wife would ask me about colors I started to say that I thought the color of my electric drill would be perfect. Needless to say, I don't get asked about it anymore.

I can match the accessories in the room with the area rug, lighting, window treatments and have them all complement each other and the art being showcased in that room for a unified look. When you see those bookshelves filled with non-book items like little kitschy things... nope can't make that look good.

Oh god. Women go ape ahit about this stuff. I dated a woman who repainted her bedroom a dozen times and ended in tears because the color didn't match what was in her head. I think I am but have yet to meet a woman who would agree. Not enough knick knacks.

I am pretty good at decorating. My buddies wives said I do well when they come over to the house.

They also said I'm one of the few guys dresses well and uses color rather than jeans and t-shirt all the time.

When it comes to making a room fit with my personality, I'm pretty good at it. I'm a lot better when it comes to creating art. The other day I made a book cover for the first book in my series.

I'm not bad at it. Most of the time she'll ask me what color to paint a room and we will agree on the colors. I like @exitseven's trick since I hate picking out paint colors
