Why do guys just stop texting in the middle of a conversation?

I mean, do they actually stop or are they just busy?
Most people have jobs and lives, and don't live attached to their phones.
I knew a guy who would disappear in conversations after a period of exchange and I think he was either busy or trying to remove himself from the friend zone so he could be viewed as a prospect and not a friend.
Usually if girls give fairly short answers or the girl isn't ask questions, it's a hint to end conversation.
Because the conservation could put the dead asleep. Because guys hate texting and girls don't gaf.
