What are some signs you are just an ego boost for your crush?

It is a mutual crush. He flirts with yme and shows interest but I am wondering if it is just for validation because he doesn’t take it further. Tries to hold my hand for eg but won’t confess. By his nervousness it seems he puts me on a pedestal for my looks. Sometimes he displays curiosity to know what I do on weekends. But I have seen him confidently complimenting other women and he wants me to witness it. He is not confident with me at all.

Yeah, it sounds like he’s doing it for an ego boost. And he is probably a narcissist. I dealt with a guy like this, he would constantly talk about other women when we met up to get a reaction out of me, he never complimented me but said things that made me feel like he thought I was too good for him. He’d get jealous if I even mentioned another man and one time I picked him up (yes, I picked him up) and his friend was staring me down as if he’d told him “look what I can make this girl come pick me up” and if I was even texting during our hook up, he would get really offended.

Honestly, guys like that are mature. He’s never going to really like you and whether it was or wasn’t for an ego boost he isn’t worth your time.
