Why does he ask others about me but acts indifferent towards me?

When I was absent for a week my coworker who I don’t Directly work with asked a few coworkers of mine Where I was. When He sees me in the Office He barely acknowledges me But acts friendly and chatty with everyone else. He recently started texting me to offer me help. Why does he Act so weird?
